Ah, Bliss

“And they went on like that, five times, each time Maasi’s voice rising half an octave higher”.

“Voice rising half an octave”

“…higher”

“No, just rising. Rising is higher”

“Unless it’s like Mangal Pandey. It’s just ‘The Rising’ then”

“Or like baking a cake. Then rising is not higher, it’s just better”.

“When baking a cake it is batter?”

You know what I’m doing for a living nowadays? Reading chick lit. Not for earning a living – but that’s what I’m doing in life.

It’s a fantastic way to spend your days, mind you. The tough part is only when you’re in between books. It’s like that period between when you come back from an AA meeting and before your first drink. You know you should quit, and this is the best time to do it, but you can’t wait for that soothing, reassuring first sip of the new drink to allow you to start forgetting the world outside.
